Jeroen Boon joined Play the City in June 2012.
As a social entrepreneur, I am looking for practical ways to reshape a rapidly changing society, in which active citizenship, self-organizing, bottom-up initiatives will have more priority. With my company Kiemkracht I support local citizen initiatives and the development of new cooperatives for community housing, urban agriculture, local renewables and community care in dutch neighborhoods.
I have a lot of experience with participatory methods and community-based social change projects in neighbourhoods en cities. In the past I was consultant for several environmental NGO’s with topics ranging from multiple landuse, interactive planning and educational programs about climate change and energy. In mine career I have organized several conferences, taught workshops, published articles, and spoken as a expert.
I have two Bachelor degrees, one in Ecological Landscape Planning and one in Infrastructure and Spatial Planning, both from the Larenstein college. I am also completed a threedays course Social Innovation in exciting times, about practice and theory in transitionmanagement, at the Wageningen Business School.
